Welcome to the 2nd semester! My goal this semester is to try to keep this website updated for you in a timely manner. That having been said, both 7th and 8th grade classes have an Independent Reading Project.
7th grade
7th grade is reading Stuck in Neutral. They have nightly reading with classroom quizzes. The project will be an in-class debate.
Springboard (SB)
7th graders have been working through unit 1. they started back from break by reading the Arachne myth on page 64. The should have completed pages:
71-organizer and #2
73-#4 and 5, check for understanding
77-answer the before reading
78-#3 and 4
79-read myth and answer key idea and detail
80-read myth and do key ideas and details on separate paper
82- # 8 and 9
83 and 84- They are beginning the assessment, which is to create an original myth. I have given them the option to work alone or in
partners. The rubric is on page 84. The myth is due: 5th period-2/6

7th period-2/9.

the 7th graders are now working on an advertising/media unit and have been working on mini-research projects. They will be presenting these the end of this week (2/19-2/20).
Pages to be completed are 92, 93, and 95. They will begin advertising techniques on 2/23 (SB page 99-102). The writing prompt on page 102 will be an assessment of the unit. They will continue to work through the unit until the embedded assessment on page 127.
The Springboard units are listed below.

2/2-Bronx project has been cancelled, students need to finish the book and turn in their character list 2/2-2/4
2/3 &2/4 starting The Giver
8th grade is reading Bronx Masquerade. They also have nightly reading, classroom quizzes, and when finished with the book, will have their choice of projects.
Turned in their embedded assessment on January 16th. the assignment was on page 87, rubric on page 88
they started the new unit on page 92.
Then did pages:
94-#4 and 5
95-key ideas and details on separate paper
The writing prompt on page 99 is their first assessment this quarter. They will begin it in class Feb 2nd and 3rd and it will be due on the 6th.
100 they will do questions 1,2 3
101- read story and do key ideas and details on separate paper.
We will then start reading the Giver.
